Mytailor.com is run by Hemrajani brothers, one of the leading groups that has carved a name for itself in the US market. Mytailor offers custom tailored shirts for the elite community. Going forward, mytailor.com will sell Slacks, Belts and accessories also online.
The master tailor, with his team of Salesmen (these tailors too), visit almost all the cities of the US on appointments. Customers typically turn up to meet the Tailor for ordering shirts; but this is after they get to see a whole range of choicest fabrics, shirt styles and a whole lot of features customary to the industry, to choose from. Once they are done with the measurements, the tailor records all the statistics and uses a web application to upload order details with the customer name, fabric ID, payment & shipping details. The actual stitching happens in Hong Kong.
The master tailor’s team at Hong Kong downloads the web orders on a daily basis and set off on production. . The tailored shirts are dispatched to customers directly from Hong Kong.
The fabric inventory, consisting of a few thousand fabrics, is managed at Hong Kong. The customer master, payment details, etc., is available in the master tailor’s desktop application and also mirrored in each of the Salesman’s application. Each individual app synchronizes with the master database immediately after connecting to the Internet and ensures that the current information is available at any given point of time.
Business Situation
As a B2C portal, Mytailor.com was a site that had a few thousand visitors on any given day. Each visitor to the site was a potential customer for the Tailor, who could browse fabrics, select the fabric of his choice, measure himself with the MYT measurement wizard, select the collar style, select the cuff style, record his initials or display in the cuff rings and then go on to provide personal details, shipping details and payment.
The website was facing a few challenges – to upgrade technology, increase user experience, synchronize offline and online transactions, integrate third party utilities, etc.
Solution
A holistic approach towards redesigning the website, increasing functionality, automating business processes and ensuring enhanced user experience were the key objectives that SIS handled. The iCON (Web solutions) team at SIS was involved in the complete designing, data migration, technology migration, application development, hosting & maintenance of this e-Commerce portal.
